  3. Part 1: Foundation

Caretaker Tech is the digital sphere of an economic infrastructure that will, one day, support a modern way of life beyond market and state. This digital sphere will support complex sharing situations and building complex cooperation structures of volunteers, directed by the participants’ values and needs. Caretaker Tech and its context will be introduced in the first section (1.1). Throughout the conception, the Structural Formula of Commoning serves as a common thread and helps to grasp complex economic structures aimed at the satisfaction of needs (1.2). A Glimpse Into the Infrastructure presents both essential aspects of Caretaker Tech and the structure of the text that follows (1.3). Since compatibility is of the highest value in any open system, Used Vocabularies (Valueflows & ODRL) explains the reasons for the vocabularies used.

  4. Part 2: According Needs and Abilities

We begin our exploration of Caretaker Tech’s digital economic structures by introducing key terms, framed within a narrative of how the economy transforms the material world. (2.1). Within Caretaker Tech, a process cannot be started without a request for something. The process of publishing requests itself will be explored in the second section (2.2). For planning, especially the distributed kind, it is necessary to capture knowledge on economic processes as recipes. The third section covers the origin of recipes, the definition of abilities through recipes and the recipes scope (2.3). A first glimpse into plans and how they distinguish from scenarios follows as preparation for the more complex next chapter (2.4).
